The Armed Citizen is an example of how a person that is prepared and facing evil can defend themselves. Although you are told to “let the police handle it” and “call 911” you must remember that when “seconds count the police are moments away”. A well armed and trained citizen can protect themselves when there is no time to call the authorities to handle a crises situation.
The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States proclaims: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The wording of this amendment has caused considerable debate about the true meaning and intent.
On the one hand the phrase “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” is a constitutional right granted to the individual. On the other hand, the phrase, ” A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” seems to infer that only members of a militia have that right.
There are valid arguments either way but I have always subscribed to the idea that when confronted by danger a well trained and armed citizen has the best chance of survival. In today’s society being willing and able to defend yourself is of paramount importance. Don’t let them take your guns away.
